Simultaneous Crustaceans

This resource is a set of simultaneous equations questions in increasing order of difficulty. The questions are presented one at a time and you must get the current question right before going on to the next.

Each question is presented in a large font and the intention is for the questions to be projected on a whiteboard, in front of a class, for everyone to work on together. An exercise for students to work on themselves is provided here.

Despite this being designed as a visual aid, students can earn trophies for completing sets of questions.

When you have answered 5 questions correctly you are given the option of claiming a Transum Trophy to show your achievement. The Trophy will show how many questions you have answered correctly so you might want to wait before you claim until you have answered as many questions as possible.

Simultaneous equations are two equations with two unknowns. They are called simultaneous because they must both be solved at the same time. Have a look at some of these problems which lead to simultaneous equations:

Simultaneous Occasions | Summer Holidays | Rabbits and Chickens | Rail Weigh

There are also a series of randomly-generated, self-marking simultaneous equations exercises you could try by clicking on one of the links below:

| Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 | Level 6 |

There are solutions to this exercise but they are only available to those who have a Transum Subscription.
