Players take it in turns to throw (click on) the 3 dice. The player then chooses either the mean, median, mode or range of the scores and claims a square (if that value is available).

A square can be claimed by clicking it once for red and twice for blue.

The first player to claim four squares, arranged together as a larger square or in a line, is the winner.

Averages and Range Poster

Common difficulties and misconceptions: students often learn to calculate the range alongside the different averages and do not always understand the distinction between the range as a measure of spread and the averages as a measure of central tendency.
